A day program is a structured, daytime support service for adults with developmental disabilities or other complex needs. Participants attend weekdays and take part in life skills training, community outings, social activities, and skill development; all within a safe, supportive environment. Adults with a developmental disability, autism spectrum disorder, or other complex support needs are typically eligible. RCHS day programs include life skills development such as meal preparation, personal hygiene, budgeting, and communication — alongside community outings, recreational activities, and social programming. All activities are built around each participant’s individualized goals and current abilities.

A day program is an outpatient service — participants attend during the day and return home in the evening. A group home is a full residential placement where adults live on-site with 24/7 support. Some RCHS clients use both: attending our day program while living in one of our Ottawa residential homes.
