Our approach to community development is proactive and person-centered, focusing on creating sustainable relationships and meaningful civic engagement
Social & Recreational Integration
We facilitate active participation in local Ottawa events, hobby groups, and spiritual communities. Whether it’s joining a neighborhood sports league in Barrhaven or attending community festivals, we ensure our clients are visible and valued participants.
Civic Engagement & Volunteering
We support our clients in finding volunteer opportunities that match their interests. Contributing to local food banks, animal shelters, or community centers helps our clients develop a sense of purpose and "social capital."
Relationship & Network Building
We provide guided support to help clients build and maintain "natural" support networks—friendships and acquaintances outside of paid staff. This includes social modeling and assistance in navigating new social environments.
Skill-Based Community Workshops
We organize and facilitate workshops that teach participants how to use community infrastructure, such as public libraries, community centers, and the OC Transpo system, to enhance their personal autonomy.

RCHS INC acts as a community partner, working with local businesses and organizations to promote disability awareness and create more inclusive spaces for everyone in the National Capital Region.
